What is PayTo? +
PayTo is a way to pay directly from your bank account. Instead of entering card details, you approve the payment in your banking app and the money moves instantly. It's a service built by Australia's banks, so your bank manages the whole process.
Why is my bank asking me to approve a payment? +
When a business uses PayTo, your bank sends a notification or shows a pending request in your banking app. Open the app and tap Approve (or Accept) to complete the payment. Nothing leaves your account until you say so.
Who is Arcto Payments / ArcPay? +
Arcto Payments (trading as ArcPay) is the payments company that the business you're buying from has chosen to handle their PayTo payments. We connect the merchant to the banking network. Your bank account stays with your own bank at all times.
Is this safe? +
Yes. PayTo is part of Australia's New Payments Platform, operated by Australian banks. Your bank verifies every payment before it's processed and you must actively approve it. No card details are stored or shared.
How do I approve the payment? +
Open your banking app and look for a PayTo notification, a pending payment request, or a 'PayTo agreements' section. Tap the request and choose Approve. If you can't find it, search your bank's help centre for 'PayTo'. Every major Australian bank supports it.
I can't find the payment in my banking app. What do I do? +
It can take a minute or two to appear. Try refreshing your banking app or checking your notifications. If it still doesn't show up after a few minutes, contact the business you were buying from. They can check the status and resend the request if needed.
Can I cancel or dispute a payment? +
If you haven't approved the payment yet, decline it in your banking app. If a payment has already gone through and you think it's an error or unauthorised, contact your bank directly. They handle PayTo disputes the same way as any other account transaction.
I still need help +
If you have a question about a specific payment, the best first step is to contact the business you were paying. If your question is about ArcPay or the PayTo connection itself, email us and we'll get back to you.
